Cashbook supporting the re-development of local sports club Lisnagry

Cashbook are always looking to support local initiatives and organizations that directly contribute to the health and welfare of the local community in Limerick, Ireland. Due to the current ongoing pandemic, it has been very difficult for local sports clubs to stay going under the strict government restrictions around Covid-19.

During our enforced lockdown’s there were limited training sessions and matches allowed to take place. This has been very tough for the many children and young adults that depend on sport as a way to stay fit, both physically and mentally. This has also been a challenging time for clubs to fundraise in order to improve their existing facilities. Fundraising is key to smaller club’s growth and development.

One such club is Lisnagry F.C. who are based in the beautiful village of Castleconnell, Co. Limerick. The club was formed in 1982 and plays an integral part in the local community. Lisnagry F.C. currently caters for children from the ages of 5 to 18 and they also have two adult teams competing at Junior level. The club has 120 school children and 30 adults as playing members. Cashbook has previously purchased and sponsored new kits for the underage teams.

The club recently received some fantastic news, when their application to Limerick council for a 99-year lease on their existing pitch, Scanlon Park, was approved. This long-term lease allows Lisnagry F.C to secure much needed funding from Sport Ireland to begin the redevelopment of Scanlon Park. At present there is huge problems with drainage and soil quality which makes the pitch unplayable for six months every year. Lisnagry F.C are currently fundraising to improve the playing pitch, and to build brand new dressing rooms, showers and toilets. All of which will improve facilities for the whole community but more importantly safeguards the club for future generations.

Cashbook have contributed to this very worthy cause and will be keeping a close eye on how their fundraising continues. Lisnagry F.C. need to reach their target of raising €32,000 in order to secure the extra essential funding from Sport Ireland, a statutory authority that oversees the development of sport in Ireland.
